For most organizations the bigger decision is credentials: proximity cards, smart cards, or mobile credentials, and whether readers use OSDP or Wiegand. For new projects we generally recommend smart credentials and OSDP readers, because older 125kHz proximity cards are easy to copy and Wiegand wiring is not encrypted.

Yes. The most useful links are door events tied to camera views, forced-door and held-open alarms routed to the right people, and doors released on fire alarm. Decide who acts on each alert before go-live. A common problem we see is an integration that works technically but sends alarms to a workstation nobody watches, so staff learn to ignore it. Fewer, better-routed alerts beat a screen full of noise.

An IPS system assessment is obligation-free. It evaluates your property, identifies risks, and shows where current systems fall short of your requirements, which is useful after an incident or before an audit. It is not a code inspection. Unless a quote says so, IPS does not inspect for code compliance, and the authority having jurisdiction, such as the fire marshal, may set additional requirements. Bring your compliance requirements to the assessment so we can map against them.

Not directly. IPS does not provide alarm monitoring and does not contact police or fire. For intrusion alarms, our monitoring partners provide 24/7/365 monitoring and response under an agreement you hold with them, while IPS installs and services the sensors and panels. Our NOC monitors the health of your security devices, and hosted systems are designed for 24/7/365 availability. Keep your alarm call list current; stale lists are a common failure.

It means IPS hosts and manages the security system infrastructure, applications, and administration instead of you running servers on site. Benefits include lower capital expense, operating cost spread over the system's life, immediate software updates, and redundancy through certified data center partners. Ask about upload bandwidth and retention before committing. Storing weeks of high-resolution video offsite is where hosted designs get expensive.

Hardware faults get a technician during normal business hours, 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday excluding holidays, with after-hours work available at additional charge. Variable-scope work is billed time-and-material at then-prevailing rates, and any added repairs are submitted for your approval first. Support program clients get priority response.

Yes. Support programs include two preventative maintenance visits per contract year with database metrics and performance analysis, priority remote and onsite response, documented system history, and pre-recorded training sessions that help new staff get up to speed. Between visits, keep a routine: quarterly user access audits and annual critical password resets. The program keeps the equipment healthy, but policy decisions stay with you.
