It is the point where physical security becomes an IT system. Cameras, readers, controllers and servers sit on your network and need VLANs, credentials, patching and a refresh plan, like the five-year cycles many IT teams already use for their own hardware. IPS designs and installs video, access control, intrusion and fire systems, and plans the network and support with your IT team from the start.

Because most late change orders we see come from the network. Camera counts drive switch PoE budgets and uplink bandwidth. Recorders and access servers need VLANs, firewall rules and a place in the patch cycle. Hosted options need outbound connections approved. If IT first sees the design at install, those surprises land on the schedule. We write the network requirements into the design so IT can review them first.

On-premises gives you control of storage and no dependence on your internet link, but you own the servers, backups and upgrades. Hosted services move that infrastructure off-site. IPS hosted services reduce TCO, spread cost as operating expense and bring software updates right away, with redundancy through certified data center partners. The catch is bandwidth: long retention on many cameras can make upload capacity the deciding factor.

Physical-Security-as-a-Service moves security infrastructure, applications, monitoring and administration to a hosted model. IPS hosted services provide 24/7/365 system availability, scalability and fault detection, storage for video, voice and data, and lower capital expense spread over the life of the system. It suits organizations that don't want to run security servers. It is a harder fit for sites with limited upload bandwidth.

IPS installs remote probes on servers and an application on your video server that performs health monitoring and cybersecurity controls. Data is sent outbound from your network over TLS to IPS's secure AWS server, so the connection starts from inside your environment. The NOC watches device and server health and sends near-immediate notifications. It does not watch live video or monitor alarm signals.

Access platforms range from a single door to integrated systems covering many doors and alarm points across facilities. They give you an auditable record of entries, avoid re-keying when someone leaves and allow remote management of several sites. The integration question to settle early is where user records come from, whether HR, a directory or manual entry, and who keeps them current after go-live.

Yes. Tell us what is failing, whether that is a camera feed that drops, a reader that works intermittently or a display with poor image quality. Our technicians often start with a remote session through the support portal, then schedule onsite work during normal business hours. Special scheduling carries additional charges, and pricing depends on the devices and services involved. Network faults usually need your IT contact on the call.

Decide this before go-live, because the default is that nobody does. Unpatched software is how Equifax was breached in 2017: a web flaw with a patch out for two months exposed about 147 million people. Under IPS Support Programs we handle software version updates and record them in your documented system history, alongside two preventative maintenance visits a year. Without an agreement, name an owner on your side and test updates before they reach production.
